noty – a jQuery Notification Plugin image/svg+xml

NOTY is a jQuery plugin that makes it easy to create alert – success – error – warning – information – confirmation messages as an alternative the standard alert dialog.

Honestly, creating notifications with JavaScript really isn’t very difficult. That said, this is still a nice looking jQuery plugin and it should make the process even easier.

Push.js image/svg+xml

Push is the fastest way to get up and running with Javascript desktop notifications. A fairly new addition to the official specification, the Notification API allows modern browsers such as Chrome, Safari, and IE 9+ to push notifications to a user’s desktop. Push acts as a cross-browser solution to this API, falling back to use older implementations if the user’s browser does not support the new API.

I’ll be honest, desktop notifications from browsers freak me out a little. I think my unease stems from the fact that the notification appears outside of the browser window (duh, obviously!) That said, I can see how they might come in useful for some web applications and this library should make implementing them a breeze.
